Principal’s message

From the office of the Principal…

Naparima Girls’ High School was established in 1912, with 22 students and sole teacher and Principal, Miss Edith Doyle. Over a century later, there are now approximately 800 students and 52 members of staff. Whilst the buildings’ façade has changed and the curriculum is now diverse and varied, some things remain constant – moulding holistic young women is a top priority, traditions are cherished and preserved and maintaining a standard of excellence remains a common thread in all of our activities. Above all else, we continually strive to uphold the ideals of the Presbyterian Church of Trinidad and Tobago.

Our school is blessed with a team of dedicated, committed, creative and experienced teachers who work assiduously to ensure that each student realises self-actualisation. This takes place in a safe, supportive and nurturing environment and all students are encouraged to participate fully in the curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.  In keeping with our school’s motto, volunteerism is also encouraged. All of this is aimed at meeting the Ministry of Education’s vision of the ideal child.

Parents, you are your daughters’ first teachers and as such, you are encouraged to work together with us during the 5 or 7 years of this journey. As you lead by example, we look forward to your participation in the activities of the school. Research has shown that the level of parental involvement is linked to academic success.

These adverse times, rife with uncertainties demand much more of each of us. But, our motto acts as a beacon, reminding us to look beyond our own limited situations: Non nobis solum sed omnibus – Not for ourselves only, but for all.

At Naparima Girls’ High School, we remain steadfast to this mission.
