World Poetry Day Competition 2021

World Poetry Day Competition 2021

The Ministry of Education and Hodder Education in collaboration with Caribbean Airlines and the The Secondary School Library Services Unit of NALIS observed World Poetry Day on Wednesday 14th April 2021 in the form of a poetry competition for all Form 1 students in Trinidad and Tobago.

Mckenzie Mahabir placed 1st and Shivi Maharaj placed 3rd.

Each school was able to select three students. Mckenzie Mahabir, Shivi Maharaj and Anjanaa Dan all from 1N represented Napariama Girls’ High School admirably. The entrants were judged and five students selected for the finals on April 14th.

With all the Form 1 classes attending the live performance virtually, Mckenzie took first place with her portrayal of South Parade Peddlar by Louise Bennet and Shivi copped 3rd place with The Riders by Barnabas J. Ramon-Fortuné.

Many thanks to the organisers of this competition, our school administration, staff who helped prepare the students and ensure all entries were submitted to the judges. Kudos to Mckenzie and Shivi’s parents for their hard work and innovation in this new normal.

Congratulations to Mckenzie and Shivi!
