NGHS students meet French Ambassador

President Anthony Carmona invited our school to attend a ceremony at President’s House on Wednesday
February 28th. He invited a representative of the French Department and 2 senior French students-Kirese
Narinesingh and Katherine Mohammed, to witness the presentation of credentials by the new French
Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago.

Our students were invited to listen to the Ambassador’s message and they got an opportunity to ask
questions in French and Ms. Sahadeo was also invited to translate from French into English for part of his
speech.

Two other students were invited to be at the ceremony to receive a special award from His Excellency.
Both students were recipients of a President’s medal in 2016: Kaitlin Brooker for 1st place in the SEA
examination and also Sharnavi Sagramsingh who received a President’s medal for 2nd place in the CSEC
exam nationally. These two girls were awarded special scrolls from his Excellency for recognition of
excellence in their academics.

It was an enlightening experience for the students to be part of this diplomatic experience and to interact
with the President who took time out to have a chat with the students. We were also allowed to stand and
witness the departure of the Ambassador and his party with the pomp of the mounted soldiers and the
trumpets.
