The NGHS Cricket team emerges victorious

The NGHS Cricket Team has emerged victorious against Ste. Madeline Secondary school in
their second match in the open division of the South Zone of the Secondary Schools Cricket
League (SSCL).

This win follows defeat in their opening match against the Barrackpore West Secondary
School last week. In that game, Barrackpore West, opting to bat first after winning the toss,
registered a total of 140 runs in 20 overs. In response, the NGHS team amounted a fighting
total of 119 in 20 overs, not quite getting over the line.

In their second match of the season, hosts, Ste. Madeline Secondary elected to bat first after
winning the toss. A stellar bowling performance by NGHS restricted the hosts to 110/ 8 in
their allotted 20 overs, this included 3 wickets each, claimed by Amy Nagaur and skipper,
Samantha Khan. In response, NGHS put on an explosive batting display, with opener Alyssa
Ramdath (57*) reaching her half century, aided by contributions from Amy Nagaur and
Amirah Ramdass. The target of 111 was reached in 11 overs, with the loss of one wicket.
Congratulations to all members of the team on an outstanding performance and special thanks
to their coach, Mr. Ben Santoo for the selfless devotion of his time and expertise to provide
much needed guidance for our team.

Further updates to follow after the next match on Thursday 16th March, 2018.
