NGHS Peer Helpers Bring Joy to Hard Bargain

unnamedA 37 member contingent of NGHS Peer Helpers and two supervising teachers had the privilege of bringing the Christmas spirit to Hard Bargain Government Primary School on Wednesday 14th December, 2016.

Armed with boxes of white gifts, snack bags and an assortment of Christmas carols, we received a warm welcome from the Principal, Mr Azad Mohammed, and his staff upon our arrival at 9:35 a.m. We proceeded to serenade the cherubic faces with lively Christmas carols such as “Hark the Herald Angels Sing” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas”. A brief question and answer segment also occurred where students received prizes for answering Christmas related questions. Then, the man of the morning arrived…Santa Claus! The ecstatic children got the chance to interact with Santa while he assisted us with the distribution of presents to each year group. Subsequently, cookies, donuts and party bags were dispensed to the student body and the festivities continued with more carols, pictures and various games such as “Numbers”, “Fish-Fish” and “The Farmer in the Dell”. The teachers and students were overjoyed evinced by the hearty vote of thanks given by the Principal and the students’ reluctance to allow us to depart.

The Peer Helpers body is exceedingly grateful to Camira McClashie whose familial connections allowed us to hire Santa for the event; Jessica Rackal and family for their generous donation of cookies and donuts which contributed to the success of the venture. Special thanks to Mrs Rampaul, our patron teacher, and Ms Sookdeo for accompanying us. We would also like to thank all of the members who donated gifts, wrapped presents, showed up for our outing and assisted in any other way.
