The N.G.H.S. Badminton team made us proud at the Trinidad and Tobago Secondary Schools Badminton Association (TTSSBA) Districts Tournament held earlier this month. The results were as follows:
Aarya Singh won gold and Sahayli Maharaj, silver, in the 13 and under 13 Girls’ Singles event.
Saajidah Asgarali and Sahayli Maharaj won gold whilst Vinaya Sahadeo and Aarya Singh won silver in the 13 and under 13 Doubles event.
NGHS also emerged victorious in the 15 and under 15 age group with Hana Asgarali winning gold and Lilianna Gildharry, silver, in the Girls’ Singles event.
In the Girls’ Doubles matches, Hana Asgarali and Lilianna Gildharry brought home the gold whilst Melek Ramnath and Vaishnavi Maharaj got the bronze.
Jamiah Thomas and Ashley Hosein won gold and silver respectively in the Girls’ 17 and under 17 singles. They then teamed up to win gold in the Doubles. Ajada Wankin and Naomi Wilson, both newcomers to the competition, placed third, earning themselves the bronze.
All Tier A players, along with the 1st and 2nd place winners from Tier B, will be representing the Victoria Educational District at Nationals in January.
