In recognition of Basic Education and Literacy month on the Rotary Calendar, Naparima Girls’ High School’s Interact Club hosted its first virtual literacy evening “Reading between the lines” on September 23rd, 2021 featuring local published authors Mr. David Rajpaulsingh and Ms. Samantha Sankar. The evening aimed to build a stronger sense of writing within students by highlighting local writers and their publications. The audience consisted of NGHS students, along with Interactors from neighboring schools.
All in all, the event was a resounding success and included an interview with both authors, a question and answer session as well as readings from David Rajpaulsingh’s novel, “Mystery at Main Ridge” and Samantha Sankar’s poetry book, “Running with Daffodils.” The audience was delighted when at the end of the evening they were given advice on the writing process and were encouraged to continue their practice. Sincere appreciation to both authors who were very willing and thrilled to share their time, knowledge and love of writing with everyone.
