“Success isn’t a secret; it’s all around us,”
– Former Deputy Head Girl, Danielle Seunarine, Open Scholarship Winner in
Mathematics
At this morning’s assembly, students and staff were graced by the presence of
the majority of the thirty-seven scholarship recipients. To begin the events,
former head girl, Katelyn Dwarpaul (Additional Scholarship recipient in Natural
Sciences), recited a short prayer and this was followed by approximately thirty
unique, appreciative speeches. As each awardee anxiously stood at the front of
the assembly, their moment to shine was finally here – the opportunity to deliver
their long awaited Scholarship Acceptance Speeches which many had mentioned
that they wrote since Form Five. While the experience was described as being a
dream come true for many, it was without a doubt that each student owed a
great amount of their success to God for guiding them through the long, stressful
nights and final examinations.
The recipients also made special mention to their teachers, both present and
past, who would have alongside worked tirelessly with them. One recipient,
Illisha Manerikar described our teachers as “mothers, cheerleaders and
motivators.” Therefore, it was no surprise that they were all praised for their
commitment, encouragement and patience. The student body was also given
words of advice as to how they themselves can attain a scholarship. As Teshanna
Mohammed (Open Scholarship in Mathematics) would have said, “You need to
work, not compete. Help each other and you can all achieve success.”
We at Naparima Girls’ High School continue to wish all our scholarship winners
and past students best of luck in their future endeavors. We eagerly anticipate to
hearing great achievements from you!
