On 11th October 2019, the ‘International Day of the Girl’ was celebrated. This event was introduced in 2012 by the United Nations.
This year the event was hosted by Women of Worth (Trinidad and Tobago), a registered non-profit organisation with a mission to empower, inspire and transform the lives of women and girls, and Project R.A.R.E. (Raising Awareness of the Ripple Effect of Gun Violence) that seeks to help people develop a more rational perspective and deeper understanding of the effects of one act of gun violence and therefore to be armed with knowledge, not firearms, to promote peace and non-violence.
On Wednesday 9th October 2019, Ashara Satahoo, Deliah Gopaul, Jenea Thomas, Javairia Mohammed, Nishelle Rennie and Mrs. Kalloo Sammah attended the event at the Conference hall on San Fernando Hill. Students were treated to a Cultural programme and an inspiring message. Students were part of team building group activities promoting a Culture of Peace.
