Caribbean Industrial Research Institute (CARIRI) launched the Youth Innovators Mobile App Competition (YIMAC) on Monday 28th May 2018. At this first phase of the competition, four of our Form 4 Information Technology Students emerged the winners of the ‘Mobile App Idea’ activity. Each school was given two random words to build their app idea. Farzanah Rahaman, Veronique Andrews, Chelsea Seuradge and Sydney Lutchmansingh invented the app idea based on the words, ‘Great Calculator’ to help persons who are in uncomfortable situations and would like to exit discreetly using a calculator front to mask the actual use. The app would send fake alerts or notifications which allow the user to have an excuse to leave unsuspectingly. Our girls won movie tickets to celebrate their win.
